Alternative to vJoy?

I'm sad to hear that vJoy has ceased development and may be difficult for users to install. I've been working on a VR overlay with hand tracked VR controls to control a game that supports VR but not VR controllers. vJoy was indispensable for allowing what I was working on to send controls to the game.

Is there an alternative to vJoy I can implement to allow my users to use my overlay without the installation difficulties and reduce the support requests the vJoy community gets?
